O Hay, I Has Eclipse

So I got the telescope and set it up last night and took it outside where the moon was shrouded in clouds. But I had some hope as you could actually see the moon pretty well through the clouds. But through the ‘scope it was just a blurry disc.

But rowen and I kept our vigil, checking on the moon every 10 minutes or so. And we were rewarded! Maybe 5 minutes before the beginning of the eclipse the sky cleared and we got a great view of the moon. It was freezing cold so we weren’t outside for the whole thing, but we’d venture out every 10-15 minutes to check on the progress. Rowen had to go to bed before totality, but she got a good view of half the surface of the moon dimmed by the shadow of the earth. Very cool!
